Wisdom teeth out. Tips and Advices?!?!?

So Im getting my wisdom teeth pulled soon, and I am terrified. I never gotten any sort of oral surgery except getting a filling. BUT NEVER have I ever gotten a tooth pulled. I was wondering if it hurts when they pull it? Some pointers like how does it feel? and Im not sure if this is true but my friend said that if they pull it out wrong, my whole mouth can go numb for the rest of my life. TRUE??? and I heard they put you to sleep...do you have to? Im a bit nervous about that part. Please help me out and tell me your experiences!!!!!
