How do you Get An I phone out of Recovery Mode Or the itunes screen?

I had inherited my sisters iphone (i think 2g) . and instead of deleting her contacts one by one, i restored or i think erased Everythinq. The screen then shut off. and an i tunes pictur showed up. I tried jailbreaking it. but i cant. I tried to go on i tunes and recover it. But I Dont Know how to fix it! Helppp!
