Can scolisis affect my ribcage?

i'm 32 yr old female. my spine is at aa 43 degree angel. I notice lately i've been getting a lot of pain in my ribcage. I'm just wondering if it could get worse? I talk to a doc and they recommended surgery but now they want to wait. I'm just wondering what I should do?
