External Hard disk USB port has come loose. How to recover data?

I used too much force while plugging the USB cable into the USB port of my external HDD. Then, there was a sound when I shake my HDD. Apparently, an inside part has broken and come loose. Computer is unable to detect the device anymore. I believe it's just a broken USB port so can I just get someone to change the HDD casing with new USB port as my HDD contains many memorable photos? It is too pricey to seek professional data recovery companies...
